About me

Dr. Aurelia Nicolae is a senior physician specializing in diabetes, nutrition, and metabolic diseases. I have been working in the medical field since 1988, and practicing as a physician since 2014.

I have extensive experience in: diabetes mellitus, obesity, dyslipidemia, hypertension (HTN), chronic kidney disease, congestive heart failure (CHF), peripheral artery disease, diabetes complications, endocrine disorders, and cancers, essentially, the entire spectrum of pathologies associated with diabetes.

I prescribe treatments for type 1 and type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, obesity, hyperuricemia, and diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). I also perform ankle-brachial index (ABI) measurements, sensitivity testing, and continuous glucose monitor (CGM) placement.

Patient communication is of the utmost importance to me. I focus on providing impactful explanations, establishing clear responsibilities regarding their metabolic condition, monitoring their health status, and preventing diabetes complications. The relationship with the patient must be a true partnership built on trust, confidentiality, mutual respect, and honesty.

  • Managing the entire spectrum of pathologies associated with diabetes: type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus, obesity, dyslipidemia, hyperuricemia, and hypertension (HTN).
  • Managing diabetes complications and associated comorbidities: chronic kidney disease (CKD), congestive heart failure (CHF), peripheral artery disease (PAD), endocrine disorders, and metabolic support for oncology patients.
  • Diagnosing and managing diabetic sensorimotor polyneuropathy (DSPN).
  • Performing clinical procedures and investigations: ankle-brachial index (ABI) measurements, neurological sensitivity testing, and the initiation and placement of continuous glucose monitors (CGM).
